Senator Daniel P. Connors
Daniel P. Connors (D-Dist. 19, Cumberland , and Lincoln ) was first elected to the Rhode Island Senate in 1996 as a 20 year-old college junior. Connors, a life-long resident of Rhode Island , is a graduate of Cumberland High School . He earned his B.A. from Providence College in 1998; and his J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2002.
In 2008, Connors was elected by his colleagues to serve as Senate Majority Leader. He previously served as Deputy President Pro Tempore of the Senate and was Chairman of the Committee on Labor and Chairman of the Committee on Rules. He has also served as a member of several other Senate committees, including the Committee on Government Oversight, the Committee on Finance, and the Committee on Judiciary.
He currently serves as Chairman-elect of the New England Board of Higher Education. Connors has previously served as chairman of the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority Board of Directors, and as a member of the Rhode Island State Investment Commission.
Connors is a resident of Cumberland . He is an attorney in private practice, and he previously served as Director of Human Resources for the Town of Cumberland .
