Representative San Bento this week introduced legislation, (2010-H7338), calling for a referendum question on the November, 2010, ballot to amend the Rhode Island Constitution to allow casino gambling in the state, at Twin River or Newport Grand, or both.
1/29/2010 Senate forum focuses on jobs
The Rhode Island State Senate continued its focus on growing jobs with its second economic forum in as many months. The economic summit, held January 28 at Bryant University’s George E. Bello Center, was the fifth such forum in 13 months. The focus was workforce development, ways to better equip Rhode Islanders with the skills they need to gain employment, and ways to foster the creation of jobs in the state.

1/26/2010 Roger Badeau recognized posthumously by Senate
The Rhode Island Senate today dedicated Room 212 in the State House in honor and memory of the late Sen. Roger R. Badeau of Woonsocket. Senator Badeau died in early 2008 at the age of 71 and after 12 terms in the Senate. He was a Democrat who represented District 20, Cumberland and Woonsocket. He began his career in the Senate in 1985 and served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Labor from 1992 until his death.
