Senate Committees to consider final report, legislation on water supply
Press conference scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 6; hearing at 6:30 p.m.
WHAT: The Senate Committee on Environment and Agriculture and the Senate Committee on Government Oversight, which conducted a series of hearings into Rhode Island’s water supply and distribution systems, will unveil a proposed final report and proposed legislation at a press conference, and consider adopting the final report and draft legislation at a hearing.

STATE HOUSE – The Senate Committee on Government Oversight and the Committee on Environment and Agriculture will host a press conference at 3 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday, June 6) to discuss their proposed recommendations to address Rhode Island’s water supply and distribution challenges. At the press conference, the committees will unveil and discuss a proposed report as well as draft legislation, both of which will be considered by the Senate committees at a joint hearing to take place later tomorrow afternoon, at 6:30 p.m.
The Senate Government Oversight and Senate Environment and Agriculture Committees conducted a series of hearings on the state’s water supply and distribution system this session. Since the conclusion of these hearings, they have been working on the report as well as draft legislation.
Senator J. Michael Lenihan is Chairman of the Government Oversight Committee. Senator V. Susan Sosnowski is Chairwoman of the Environment and Agriculture Committee.
Both the press conference and the joint hearing will be held in the Senate Lounge.
