VFW honors Rep. Lancia with Loyalty Day Award
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Robert B. Lancia (R-Dist. 16, Cranston) has been honored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars with the Loyalty Day Award in recognition of service to VFW members and for being a great spokesman for veterans.
“I am incredibly honored to be recognized by the VFW with this award,” said Representative Lancia, who is a former Navy chaplain. “The issues that beset the lives of veterans are of great importance because our debt to them is one that can never be calculated. At the governmental level, Veterans’ Affairs is a standing committee in the Rhode Island House of Representatives. Nationally, it is a cabinet-level position. Honoring our commitment to veterans is one of the most sacred public trusts.”
Two days after the award ceremony, Representative Lancia was back with the VFW to give an address at their memorial service. The next day, he presented the organization with a legislative grant for $2,500. He is a disabled veteran and a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
