Rep. Lancia to co-host Black History Month Rhode Island Youth Reading Club
STATE HOUSE — Rep.Robert B. Lancia, (R-Dist. 16, Cranston), will join Sean Holley, Kobi Dennis, and Allen Williams to co-host the first Black History Month Rhode Island Youth Reading Club event.
Children of all ages and their families are invited to come to the State House for book readings and discussion on Monday, Feb. 15, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the State Room on the second floor. Light refreshments will be served at the free event.
“I think that an event like this is so important to help not just African-Americans but all Rhode Islanders learn about our history both nationally and locally, said Representative Lancia. “Having an opportunity like this to reach our younger generation especially is important to me as an education advocate and professional.”
The first book reading session will begin at 5:45 p.m. with another planned for 6:15 p.m. All four co-hosts will read during the sessions and lead discussions afterwards. In addition, free books will be given to the participating youth.
