Representatives Nardolillo and Lancia Announce 2nd Annual Bow Ties Against Bullying Campaign at the State House
Donations to Support the Samaritans of RI
STATE HOUSE -- Representative Robert A. Nardolillo III. (R-District 28 Coventry) and Representative Robert Lancia (R-District 16 Cranston) invite all legislators, staff and pages to support their 2nd annual “Bow Ties Against Bullying” campaign by wearing a bow tie or scarf to the State House on Wednesday, May 4. Representatives Nardolillo and Lancia will donate $10.00 ($5.00 each) to the Samaritans for RI for each Representative who participates in this worthy cause.
“Too many of our young people in Rhode Island are victims of bullying at school, on social media, and sometimes, sadly at home, and it needs to stop,” said Rep. Nardolillo. “Bullying is a very destructive means of intimidation, and too many times, we have seen it lead to teen suicide. I hope our campaign brings additional awareness to this very real problem.”
Rep. Lancia added, “Bow Ties Against Bullying is a great way to show Rhode Island that their lawmakers are united in combatting this aggressive behavior, which can ruin lives. If our campaign helps even just one young person, then we’ve accomplished something wonderful.”
The Samaritans of Rhode Island provides educational programs about bully awareness and prevention. More information on the Samaritans of RI can be found at http://samaritansri.org/
Photos will be taken on the House floor on Wednesday. “We hope to see a sea of bow ties and scarves in support of this important fundraising effort to fight bullying,” said Reps. Nardolillo and Lancia.
