Rep. Craven named Chairman of House Committee on Labor
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Robert E. Craven (D-Dist. 32, North Kingstown) was appointed to the position of Chairman for the House Committee on Labor yesterday by House Speaker Nicholas A. Mattiello (D-Dist. 15, Cranston). The House Committee on Labor deliberates legislation relating to workers’ compensation and labor laws.
“I am honored to have been appointed Chairman of the Labor Committee and I thank Speaker Mattiello and the rest of my colleagues for their confidence in my ability to lead the committee,” said Representative Craven. “At a time when workers’ rights and employment laws are on the public’s forefront, the Labor Committee serves as an important tool to ensure workers and employers are treated fairly and lawfully and I’m looking forward to working with the other committee members to continue Rhode Island’s economic momentum through the committee’s dealings.”
Representative Craven was also appointed to the House Committee on Judiciary, which considers all bills affecting the penal code, judicial system, ethics, open meetings, access to public records and election laws.
