Representative Robert Lancia to Co-Host Along with Sean Holley, 2nd Annual Black History Month Rhode Island Youth Reading Club Event
STATE HOUSE — On Tuesday, February 28, 2017 beginning at 6:00 p.m., Representative Robert B. Lancia (R-District 16, Cranston) along with Sean Holley, will co-host the 2nd annual Black History Month Rhode Island Youth Reading Club event. Additional co-hosts include Kobi Dennis and Allen Williams, who will join them for readings.
Children of all ages and their families are invited to attend the event at the State House for book readings and discussion in the Governor’s State Room, located on the second floor of the Rhode Island State House. The event is free to the public and light refreshments will be served.
"I am proud to be hosting this event again this year. It is so important, not only to celebrate one's heritage, but also encourage the joy of reading. It helps us grow as persons and opens up a world full of dreams, opportunity, and promise!” said Representative Lancia. “I hope everyone takes this opportunity to reach out to our younger generation, to show them that Rhode Islanders are here for them. I applaud my co-hosts for joining me for this special event at the State House.”
“As a professor and with every aspect of my life, I stress the importance of education as the foundation for all ages and a critical component of this is reading! Reading about Black History is very important to all nationalities. Black history is everyone’s history!” said Sean Holley.
All four co-hosts will read during the sessions and lead discussions afterwards. In addition, free books will be given to the participating youth.
