3/20/2017 Representative Robert Lancia to Host Superintendent and Principals from District 16 at Rhode Island State House
STATE HOUSE  --  On Monday, March 27, 2017 at 12:00 noon, Representative Robert B. Lancia (R-District 16 Cranston) will host Superintendent Jeannine Nota-Masse and five Principals from District 16 for a tour and lunch at the Rhode Island State House.
“I think this is a wonderful opportunity to show Superintendent Masse and the five Principals from my district the historic charm of our state house, while highlighting the opportunity for their students.  I have booked an official tour for my guests, where they will also learn about intern and page opportunities for their current or future students,” said Representative Lancia.
The Cranston Principals from District 16 who will join the tour, include Mr. Tom Barbieri from Cranston High School West, Mr. Tim Vesey from Western Hills Middle School, Mr. Jay DeCristofaro from Glen Hills Elementary School, Ms. Tonianne Napolitano from Garden City Elementary School and Mr. Paul DePalma from Waterman Elementary School.
Representative Lancia’s guests will learn all about Rhode Island’s rich, vibrant history and the building of the Rhode Island State House, which opened to the public in 1904.  They will tour the state Library, the House and Senate Chambers, the Governor’s State Room, as well as the Rotunda.  Representative Lancia’s guests will also have an opportunity to see and learn about the state’s historic battle flags and liberty bell.
“I hope this tour sparks some new, innovative ideas for our educational leaders in District 16, which they may then implement in the classroom.  My hope is that this tour will encourage civic leadership and participation in our community,” added Rep. Lancia.
The State House is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except holidays.  Free guided tours are offered at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:00 p.m.
