Sen. Crowley fully supports Pawtucket and Central Falls’ bid for Amazon HQ2
STATE HOUSE – Sen. Elizabeth A. Crowley (D-Dist. 16, Central Falls, Pawtucket) is in full support of a recently announced joint bid for the Amazon HQ2 by Pawtucket Mayor Don Grebien and Central Falls Mayor James Diossa.
“I am in full support of Mayor Grebien and Mayor Diossa’s decision to pursue the new Amazon HQ2 within District 16 in Pawtucket and Central Falls. The district has seen numerous successes over my five terms in the Senate, starting with the building of the Conant Street Bridge, and recently with the planned commuter rail station that will further revitalize the area. With development occurring at a rapid pace, I truly believe Amazon would thrive in this area, and in turn, Pawtucket and Central Falls residents would prosper, along with the rest of our state. I pledge my full support in the mayors’ efforts and I will do everything in my power on the state-level to assist them in their bid,” said Senator Crowley.
Mayor Diossa and Mayor Grebien announced their joint-bid to Amazon in a press release that highlighted the fact that the station district, the area surrounding the planned commuter rail station, contains over 50 acres for development, 2 million square feet of historic mill buildings, and enough room for new construction in order to lure Amazon HQ2 to the area.
