10/23/2017 Rep. Casimiro speaks to clinical research nurses regarding government advocacy
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Julie A. Casimiro (D-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter) recently spoke to members of the International Association of Clinical Research Nurses at an event aimed at educating members on government advocacy in advancing their own practice issues.  The event was held on October 18 at the Providence Renaissance Hotel.  Representative Casimiro was invited to participate at the event by Donna Policastro, RN, Executive Director of the RI State Nurses Association.

“With nurses often being considered one of the most trusted occupations in the country, it is important that we realize that there are many different kinds of nurses who all perform different, yet necessary, tasks within the health care field.  Clinical research nurses are a vital part of our nation’s health as they are on the front lines of new research and treatments that will heal patients in the future.  I spoke with them to educate their members on the skills and knowledge they need to effectively communicate on a governmental level what they need to continue doing the excellent jobs that they do in their specialized field,” said Representative Casimiro.

The International Association of Clinical Research Nurses is a professional nursing organization.  Its purpose is to define, validate and advance clinical research nursing as a specialty practice and to support the professional development of registered nurses who directly or indirectly impact the care of clinical research participants across all clinical specialties.
