2/12/2018 MEDIA ADVISORY: House Finance Committee meets on Tuesday and Wednesday to continue hearing budget articles
STATE HOUSE – The House Committee on Finance will be meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday this week to continue hearing articles from the proposed FY 2019 budget (2018-H 7200).

On Tuesday, February 13 at the RISE of the House (approximately 4:45 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House, the committee will hear the following budget articles:
  • Article 7 – Fees – Section 1: This section increases the fees for federally covered securities
  • Article 7 – Fees – Section 3: This section increases the biennial claim adjusters licensing fee from $150 to $250.
  • Article 7 – Fees – Sections 4-7
  • Article 8 – Motor Vehicles – This article imposes a one-year delay in the start of license plate reissuance and raises the fee associated with routine license updates.
  • Article 10 – Section 10 – Requires the transfer of $750,000 from the Department of Business Regulation Insurance Companies Assessment for Actuary Costs restricted receipt account to state general revenues.
  • Article 10 – Section 11 – Requires the transfer of $800,000 from the Department of Business Regulation Commercial Licensing Racing and Athletics Reimbursement restricted receipt account to state general revenues.
On Wednesday, February 14 at the RISE of the House (approximately 4:45 p.m.) in Room 35 of the State House, the committee will hear the following budget articles:
  • Article 5 – Capital Development Program – Question 2: Relates to $70 million for higher education institutions.
  • Article 16 – Public Debt Management Act Resolution: Requires that all new non-general obligation debt authorizations be approved by the Assembly, except in certain circumstances.
