House Speaker Mattiello to address senior issues at legislative forum March 6
STATE HOUSE —House Speaker Nicholas A. Mattiello will highlight the Senior Agenda Coalition of Rhode Island’s Second Annual Legislative Forum on Senior Issues Tuesday, March 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Warwick.
The speaker will discuss the Senior Agenda Coalition’s legislative priorities that include two bills: One (2018-H 7098) sponsored by Rep. Deborah Ruggiero (D-Dist. 74, Jamestown, Middletown) to increase senior center funding by $400,000. The second (2018-H 7172), sponsored by Rep. Lauren H. Carson (D-Dist.75, Newport), will make major improvements to the state’s Aging and Disability Resource Center, called the Point Network Program.
“We are pleased that Speaker Mattiello will join us for a second year in a row to listen to our legislative priorities,” says Senior Agenda Coalition Executive Director Bill Flynn. “In the next eight to 10 years, the senior population will grow to over 250,000 in this state — that’s one in four Rhode Islanders — so these are important issues for everyone.”
The event is free and open to the public. Advance registration is recommended online at www.sacforum.eventbrite.com or by calling (401) 351-6710.
