Rep. Craven attends business forum in North Kingstown
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Robert E. Craven (D-Dist. 32, North Kingstown) today offered his compliments to the Chafee administration, the RI Economic Development Corporation and other state and private organizations that sponsored a Business Outreach Forum in North Kingstown this week.
The forum was held to hear from local small businesses and to discuss ways to help them succeed, grow and create jobs. Other offices and agencies participating in the forum were the RI Department of Labor and Training, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Office of Regulatory Reform and the North Kingstown Chamber of Commerce.
“I want to compliment the governor and the other agencies that hosted this event, and that took the time to offer their expertise to businesses in North Kingstown,” said Representative Craven. “I, like the governor and other officials at the event, believe that small businesses are the backbone of our communities and are a key factor in the health of our cities and towns and our state’s overall fiscal recovery.”
“Running a business is an enormous, time-consuming proposition and I am grateful for anything our government can do, such as this forum, to help make it easier to do business in our state,” he said.
Businesses that attended were able to obtain information at the forum or arrange for follow-up appointments with the various offices and agencies on such issues as financing and credit, the regulatory and permitting process and energy efficiency.
Representative Craven is serving his first term in the House of Representatives. He is a member of the House Committee on Small Business and the House Committee on Judiciary.
