Rep. Azzinaro receives two honors
STATE HOUSE – Rep. Samuel A. Azzinaro (D-Dist. 37, Westerly) was honored twice last month, recognized for his legislative record in support of the two organizations that presented him awards.
Currently serving his third term in the House of Representatives, he is a Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Vice Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Education and Welfare and a member of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs.
Representative Azzinaro received the Immaculate Conception Church Inaugural Pro-Life Award during a pro-life dinner at the Westerly church in January. The award was presented by the church’s pastor, Fr. Giacomo Capoverdi, who said it recognized Representative Azzinaro’s personal and legislative support for the rights of the unborn.
The award was a framed picture of St. Thomas More, the Roman Catholic Church’s patron saint of politicians.
Representative Azzinaro was also honored by the Rhode Island Southern Firemen’s League at its annual Legislators Night Dinner in January.
Fire Chief Frederick Stanley, chief of the Hope Valley/Wyoming Fire District and President of the Southern Firemen’s League, said Representative Azzinaro was honored for his faithful support of issues of importance to the league and to firefighters across the state.
The Southern Firemen’s League is composed of 20 fire departments in Washington and Kent counties.
