It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 31-23-38 of the General Laws in Chapter 31-23 entitled "Equipment and Accessories Generally" is hereby amended to read as follows:
31-23-38. Television receivers prohibited. -- No television viewer, screen, or other means of visually receiving a television broadcast shall be located {ADD in the field of view of the operator of the motor vehicleADD}. Any person who shall drive or cause to be driven any motor vehicle in violation of the provisions of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than one hundred dollars ($100).
{ADDThis section does not prohibit the use of an electronic display used exclusively for safety or in conjunction with a vehicle navigation system.ADD}
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
