Raymond E. Gallison Jr. (D) represents District 69, Bristol and Portsmouth.
He was first elected in November 2000.
The Chairman of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, he is also the
Co-Vice Chair of the House Finance Committee and Co-Chair on the Joint Defense
Economy Planning Commission.
Additionally, he chaired the Commission
to Study Construction of New Veterans' Home, and he also served on the
Commission to Study Homeless Veterans in Rhode
Island and the Veterans' Advisory Council for Senator
He sponsored a law enacted in 2012 which prohibits
lenders from foreclosing on the home of any military member when they are
called to active duty and for nine months following their return.
An assistant director of AEP and a self-employed attorney, Rep.
Gallison is a member of the Massachusetts and Bristol County Bar Associations.
A 1970 graduate of La Salle
Academy in Providence,
he received his bachelor of arts degree from Rhode Island College
in 1974 and his law degree in 1989 from the Southern New England School of
Law. Rep. Gallison was also a Fellow at George Washington
School of International Affairs. He also works as employer support for the
Guard and Reserve.
Gallison, who was born on March 23, 1952, lives in Bristol with his wife Diane. They have two sons, Timothy and Nathan.
