Kenneth A. Marshall (D) has served the residents of Bristol and Warren in District 68 since first being elected in November 2012. He was named Senior Deputy Majority Leader in 2015. He is the first vice-chairman of the House Committee on Finance and is a member of the House Committee on Labor as well as the House Committee on Rules.
In 2015, he cosponsored a successful campaign finance reform bill that requires candidates to maintain separate accounts exclusively for campaign funds. The previous year, he sponsored a new law allowing the creation of Boston Bruins foundation license plates. He has sponsored and been a strong advocate for many bills aimed at encouraging economic development or improving corporations and insurance regulations, including 2015’s reduction of the minimum corporate tax and the establishment in 2013 of a revolving fund for road and bridge repair.
He served on the Bristol Town Council from 2002 to 2012, including the last six years as chairman. He was also a member of the town’s Zoning Board from 1997 to 2002. While on the Bristol Town Council, he also served as the Vice Chairman of the Mt. Hope Enterprise Zone and worked closely with existing and new business development for the East Bay area. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Bristol Democratic Committee, a position he has held since 2015.
Born on Jan. 4, 1968, he is a 1986 graduate of Bristol High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Bryant College in 1991.
In addition to his duties as a legislator, Representative Marshall is the general manager of Donovan & Sons Inc., a Plumbing and Heating company located in Middletown RI.
Representative Marshall resides in Bristol with his wife, Christine. They are the proud parents of four children: Anthony, Kenneth, Makenzie and Amanda.
