Jared R. Nunes (D) represents District 25 in Coventry and West Warwick, having first been elected in November 2010. He is a member of the House Committee on Labor and the House Committee on Small Business.
In 2016, Representative Nunes sponsored legislation creating a tax exemption/stabilization plan for the Arctic Village redevelopment zone in West Warwick. He also sponsored a bill that allows the West Warwick Town Council to increase the veterans' and elderly tax exemptions.
Representative Nunes has championed several other legislative initiatives to increase economic activity, including a tax exemption for residential properties in development, an extended appeals period for motor vehicle excise tax disputes, and a less burdensome licensing process for dealers, manufacturers, distributors and leasing companies.
Representative Nunes is a self-employed contractor and is a member of both the Pawtuxet Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Utility Contractors Association of Rhode Island. He is also an Eagle Scout.
Born on Aug. 11, 1982, Representative Nunes attended Bishop Hendricken High School and went on to study at the University of Rhode Island, where he graduated in 2004. He and his wife, Vanessa (Bissanti), reside in Coventry with their daughters, Stella and Scarlett.
