Representative Ramon A. Perez (D-Dist. 13, Providence and Johnston) was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives in November 2016. He is a member of both the House Committee on Health, Education and Welfare and the House Committee on Municipal Government.
During his first year in the General Assembly in 2017, Representative Perez sponsored legislation that would require the DMV not place on a motorist's driving record a traffic violation if the fine is paid within 30 days of issuance. He also sponsored legislation that would create an accident compensation fund to provide payments and benefits to those injured by uninsured motorists.
Representative Perez is the owner of New England Taxi and a founding member of the Taxi Driver Union in Providence.
Born on November 20, 1971, Representative Perez was educated in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He resides in Providence with his wife Mayra.
