Rep. David Place (R-Dist. 47, Burrillville, Glocester) was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2018. He is a member of the House Committee on Judiciary, the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, the House Committee on Municipal Government and the Special Legislative Commission on Defense Economy Planning.
Representative Place is a retired U.S. Army staff sergeant who served as a tank commander on an M1A1 Abrams. He served in the Army from August 1996 to October 2006. He was deployed to Iraq as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom II and was decorated for leadership and heroism while in combat.
Upon returning home, Representative Place graduated from Rhode Island College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He is employed by American Tool Company, a family-owned Rhode Island business.
Representative Place served on the Burrillville Town Council from 2010 to 2018 and also was a member of the Harrisville Fire District Operations Committee from 2015 to 2018.
Born on October 20, 1979, he is married to Erin (Todisco) Place and they are the parents of a daughter, Michelle.
